Senator Lucio to Welcome STYX's Ricky Phillips to Texas Senate
AUSTIN — On Wednesday, April 3, 2013, Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. (D-Brownsville) will welcome Mr. Ricky Phillips, bass guitar player for American rock band STYX, to the Texas Senate. Mr. Phillips will be honored on the Senate floor with a resolution commemorating his musical career.
"Mr. Phillips' music has touched the lives of millions of people across the globe for more than forty years. Now, he calls Texas home. I am delighted to welcome Mr. Phillips to the Senate," Senator Lucio said.
STYX is famous for such hits as "Renegade," "Too Much Time," "Come Sail Away," “Lady,” “Foolin Yourself,” and "Blue Collar Man." Mr. Phillips and band mates Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, and Todd Sucherman have performed more live shows than all of the previous years of the band's career combined. As part of STYX, Mr. Phillips has performed at the Super Bowl, as part of chart-topping tours with Def Leppard, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, and Bad Company, and has recorded two STYX studio albums.
Previous to joining STYX, Mr. Phillips has performed with The Babys, Bad English, Jimmy Page, David Coverdale, Ronnie Montrose, Ted Nugent, and Eddie Money .
